A Quiet Anniversary
post by: Schlagwerk
And I'm back! Work and life has kept me distracted from the comic as of late, but now things are calming down for a while. Things'll mostly get hectic again in July & August anyhow.

It has been a year and a week (or 2) since this website went live. I didn't feel like making a deal of the 1 year mark because I'm not exactly happy with my lack of work on this comic. The website is still unfinished, and I only ended up making 2/3 of the comics I needed to keep the final schedule I decided on (and then there was all the schedule changes within the first few months about when a comic would come out). All this makes me want to get things ready so I can actually celebrate the 2nd year anniversary. There's still a long way to go before that.. like catching up on 4(!) months of comics, finishing up the character profiles page, implementing this nifty chapter selector, and having enough chapters to select. Here's hopin' I'll be able to get back into the groove and make the 2nd year something to talk about!
Correction to Comic #37
post by: Schlagwerk
I posted comic #37 and immediately noticed that the second last panel had a PoV error in it, that it needed to be flipped. So I flipped it... and immediately noticed that the last panel was equally wrong. Well bugger me if I was gonna fix that, as it would be a bigger task due to some corrections I made to it after scanning my original drawing. And to top it all off, I realized that I forgot to put the "beat up" details on Jake...

So comic #37 goes number one on my list of comics to redo some day.
The Flying By the Seat of My Pants Crash

The most recent reason for the lack of updates is that lately I've been using my scarce drawing time to work on character designs and some other, non-Badland Raiders-related stuff. A big problem with Badland Raiders is my tendancy to not plan designs more than a week ahead or so. I got lucky with Joe in that I sketched him on a sticky note at work the week before he first shows up and it turned out well enough that I kept him. Well this latest comic I wasn't so lucky with one of the designs and I've been putting off finishing the comic until I get it right. Then after that, I'm kicking it into high gear! I'm talking 3 comics every 2 weeks, here.

On the other hand, Braineld was a quick, inspired sketch. I liked it so much that I ended up putting him in that one page segue in order to get him out there much sooner. I don't think he would've shown up regularly for another chapter or so otherwise.
Never Much To Say

Scandelicious comic today! Ok, so there haven't been enough comics to be enough character development for this to matter.

A big problem with these posts is I have a rather private LJ for random thoughts, game reviews, and too much whining for my own tastes. So all that leaves for this website are comments about the development of the site and comic.
Along those lines, I've worked my last Sunday for a while, so here's hoping I'll actually start catching up. At last count, I am five comics behind. Imagine what could happen in five comics!
Free Time? What's That?

The next comic is all but finished, but I'm being extra lazy in posting it for some reason. It'll be up after this weekend, since I will be out of state. Trying to find the time to get up to date on the comic is seeming more and more impossible. I was understandably busy over the holiday season, but now work has been slowly creeping into personal time and I only have half my weekends for most of January. Thankfully I've got plenty of time if I'm shooting to be up to date for the 1 year anniversary of the comic. I'd also like to get all the basic updates to the website done before then, but one thing at a time.
